A Review Of Our Two Most Popular Email Services

Small Business Web Designs is often asked which provider is more suitable - ZOHO or Google Apps, for business email hosting. When it comes to a choosing a service, we recommend clients to read the guidance outlined in this page and make an informed decision. 

There are pros and cons of either service, ranging from price to support and reliability. What we make clear from this page is "you pay for what you get" and if you value reliable email backed by seamless Google support over cost savings, Google Workspace is always going to be the winner.

ZOHO Mail

What We Like:
  • ZOHO is FREE. That's right, free. 
  • ZOHO offers up to 5GB of storage space, and up to 25 unique email addresses which is perfect for a growing business. 
What We Don't Like:
  • No support - this is a BIG issue, as there is nowhere to turn if you experience an interuption with your service. 
  • Reliability issues - ZOHO, when compared to Google Workspace isn't seamless and as such isn't a reliable choice as business email really does need to be 24/7 with support on hand. 

Google Workspace

What We Like:
  • Google Workspace​ offered a HUGE 30GB of storage space, meaning your business email is set for life. 
  • The service integrates with ease to your phone, laptop, desktop or tablet, using Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird and every other email app with easy setup. 
  • Google offers 99.9% guaranteed uptime, with 0% planned downtime as well as automatic backups, spam protection and security measures help protect your business data.
  • Google offers phone support for their service, which means you've got someone to contact should any issues arise. 
What We Don't Like:
  • We believe a service that is good should be charged for, and for this reason we don't "dislike" the $5/month per user fee, but it's really the only negative point about the Google Workspace​ service.
  • However, Google is customer friendly, and there are no contracts with this service, which means it's easy to try it and discontinue if you don't see the value. 

What We Recommend

  • For the reliability, support and proven success record, we recommend Google Workspace as the preferred provider of your business email. 
  • ZOHO Mail offers a lot for free, but if you value reliable service backed up by Google support, and are prepared to invest $60 per year on email hosting, Google Workspace delivers a superlative experience.
